1. Beer money

맥주정도 사서 마실 수 있을 정도로 짜잘한 돈

: a small extra income for going out

: 푼돈

Urban dictionary에서는 대충 'Extra money for non-essential payments'라고 한다.

ex) He earns a little beer money from his weekend stall. (그는 주말 시장에서 푼돈을 벌었다) 

 

 

2. A drop in the ocean

바닷물의 한 방을처럼 엄청 미미하게 별 효과도 없을 정도로 도움이 안되는 것

: a very small amount compared to the amount needed

: 새발의 피

ex) 

- My lettter of protest was just a drop in the ocean. (내 항의편지는 그냥 새발의 피였다)

- Unfortunately, this tax won't raise a lot of money. It's a drop in the ocean, really. (불행히도 이 세금은 큰 돈이 되지는 못할거야. 진짜 새발의 피인거지)
